“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” – Marie Curie, the first woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize for Physics.
About Only to be Understood:
This site is a place where we can explore the world together. There is so much to be understood and so much to discover. Being in community with people and discussing opinions and knowledge is the way that we learn and develop as humans. I have never had a completely novel thought. Everything we suggest, say or think stems from something – whether that be something someone told us or something we have seen. It is important to celebrate the knowledge of others and not to forget that it is ok to be wrong and to change our opinions when we are.
There is so much to discover in this world, and so much to learn. We are constantly surrounded by negativity, from the news and even in our personal lives. It’s sometimes hard to notice and remember that there are lots of positive and exciting things happening and/or being discovered.
I’m Abbey and I’ve recently graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario. I love to learn and share knowledge with others, and I hope to inspire that in my readers. I truly believe that it is our duty to protect this planet and to love others when doing so.
I also think that by understanding something, we are more likely to care about it – so I’ve translated that philosophy into this website. I hope it can be a source of joy and amazement for all wanting to understand a little more about this crazy planet we call home.
